Sashiko Painted Rose
Large (70cm)
This slinky lightweight fabric was sourced from St Margaret’s Hospice. It features an abstract background of purple, black and brown with splashes of bright orange forming rose shapes. The fabric is great to wrap with and adds a sophisticated touch to a gift.
When we came to make this fabric into wraps, we found a few small holes. In the spirit of sustainability, we decided to mend the wraps using the ancient Japanese technique of sashiko. The stitches are deliberately visible as they add interest and detail to the wrap. Visible mending may not appeal to everyone, but if you like the added extra of sashiko stitching check out the photos.
The medium wrap has just one small patch of sashiko mending and the large wrap has several patches as shown in the second photo.
The Sashiko Painted Rose wraps are hemmed and mended with responsibly sourced organic cotton thread.
These wraps are from our Thrift Collection. This is our most affordable range, made up of fabrics sourced from charity shops and given a new lease of life as reusable gift wrap. We only use fabrics in good condition, and donate 10% of the profits from this range to The Batemans Trust.
Each wrap comes with a small instruction booklet which can be passed on with the gift.
